My name is Anton Svantesson-Helkiö, a filmmaker & photographer based in Helsinki, Finland. I was born and raised in Malmö, Sweden, where I studied filmmaking in high-school, and later during the late summer of 2018
I moved to Helsinki with my wife to study screenwriting and directing at Arcada - University of Applied Sciences.
I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in the late spring of 2023, and has since been actively doing creative work.

During my time at Arcada, I wrote and directed four short films, and did the editing on two of them - all of which were well-received by not only friends, family and teachers, but also by professionals in the industry. For my bachelor's thesis I wrote a feature length screenplay, "A Scanian Revenge Tale", that was later entered into an event called Pitch23 that was done in collaboration with the Finnish Film Foundation, YLE and AVEK.
My screenplay and pitch was very highly praised and I was awarded with a stipend from the Finnish Film Foundation.

As a filmmaker and photographer I yearn to tell stories that are very personal and affecting, whether it's a comedy, horror, drama, action, portraits, street, etc. I have had the fortune of working with incredible actors, professional and non-professional, in all of my movies - there's a deep trust and rapport established very early on, which means that we can push each other to step up our game. One thing that I'm always aiming for in creative projects is minimalism - the "less is more"-approach. That means that my number one focus is to tell a story without being distracted by elaborate sets, complicated and fancy camera movements, visual effects and so on - embrace my very limited resources and work within those.
Other than writing, directing, editing and photographing, I also do my own cinematography, and have done so in my two latest short-films - although it's not exactly a strength as of yet, I'm learning.
